DIY Air Purifiers at Pico Union Project

With Climate Action and Pico Union Project

Date and time: February 25, 8:30 am-12 pm

Location: Pico Union Project

Description of Event:

On February 25th, 2023, Breathe SoCal, Changeist, and Pico Union Project (PUP) collaborated to build air purifiers for the PUP community.

Why?

Individuals spend approximately 90% of their day indoors. Poor indoor air quality can lead to many health issues, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, infertility, and more. With this in mind, the event aimed to empower people to take control of their indoor air quality by teaching them to create Corsi-Rosenthal box fan filters. This technique has been scientifically studied and proven to enhance indoor air quality significantly.

A total of 21 air purifiers were meticulously assembled during the event, all destined for the PUP community members. Even in the face of inclement weather, dedicated volunteers turned out in support of this worthy cause.
