Planting Fruit Trees and Restoring La Madera Garden
With Eco Urban Gradens
Date and time: August 5th, 8:30 am-12:00 pm
Location: La Madera Community Garden
Description of Event:
On August 5th, 2023, our joint effort with Eco Urban Gardens and La Madera Community Garden in El Monte involved planting fruit trees and native plants, aiding in removing invasive plants to enhance the garden, and creating trails for people to walk through in the garden
Why?
Situated in a residential area, this cherished space stands as one of the scarce green areas within the neighborhood and predominantly caters to Hispanic and Asian growers. The community garden not only fosters a diverse blend of vegetation but also serves as a vital hub for community building and a cool area to avoid the heat from the urban heat island effect.
