Clean Air Day Event

With the Allegiance Alliance Leichtman-Levine Environmental Science High School

Date and time: October 5th, 2022, 12:00-12:30 PM

Location: 2930 Fletcher Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90065

Description of Event:

BSLA partnered with Mr. Tyler Kenney’s class, the green ambassadors club leadership, and the entire Allegiance Alliance Leichtman-Levine Environmental Science High School for a clean air day pledge event to celebrate California’s clean air day.

BSLA had a booth at the school during lunchtime where the green ambassadors’ student club volunteers recruited other students to sign their clean air day pledges. Participating students had the chance to enter a raffle to win scooters, skateboards, and other prizes to promote active lifestyles and alternative modes of transportation.

Why?

Alliance Leichtman-Levine Environmental Science High School is located between the 2 and the five freeways in Los Angeles. The school is under census tract 6037186401, and according to Cal Enviroscreen 4.0, it is in the 98 percentile and has a pollution burden percentile of 99. The Cal enviroscreen tool shares that areas with higher pollution burden scores tend to have higher pollution levels than those with lower scores. Pollution Burdens are measured by different indicators such as pollution burdens and population statistics.

The students at Alliance Leichtman Levine Environmental Science High School are passionate about climate justice and environmental issues. Various students contacted BSLA for a partnership. Thus, the association for clean air day developed.
