Garden Planting and Composting at Crece

With Crece Urban Farms

Date and time: March 23rd, 8:30 am-12 pm

Location: Crece Urban Gardens

On Saturday, March 23rd, we had the privilege of partnering with CRECE Urban Farms in Santa Ana for an inspiring day of service sponsored by Southern California Edison. Despite the pouring rain, our amazing volunteers showed up with enthusiasm ready to make a meaningful impact in the heart of the community garden. The perseverance and commitment of these volunteers show the heart of BlueSky LA’s mission to uplift and support local communities. Their efforts on this rainy day show the power of collective action and the incredible outcomes that can be achieved when we come together for a common purpose.

Why?

Braving the weather, they planted native plants, turned compost, and prepared seeds with care and dedication. Each task contributed to supporting a community facing significant environmental challenges, including a Cal enviroscreen score for pollution burden percentile of 82. The addition of native plants will help the garden adapt to changing environmental conditions, providing resilience and hope for the future.
