Date and time: December 3rd from 9:00am - 12:00 pm.

Location: 7911 Winnetka Ave, Winnetka, CA 91306

Description of Event:

Citizens of the World (CWC) West Valley in Winnetka and Blue Sky LA hosted a school garden restoration event where the following projects were completed: replacement of ivy in front of the school with California native roses, planting of several native shrubs throughout campus, planting of trees in front of the school and the restoration of the primary school garden.

By participating, volunteers in this event helped contribute to the expansion of Citizens of the World School Garden restoration, help improve the local air quality and provide an excellent place for students to enjoy shade during the hotter months.

Why?

School gardens are essential to help students develop various skills: problem-solving, creativity, understanding nature’s systems, life cycles, etc. Not only that, but school gardens and green spaces are essential to both maintain and restore to help improve our local air quality and add shade to our communities.
